“Writing across Europe with Dahl” is an Erasmus+ project of six schools from England, Finland, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The project started in August 2019 and was originally intended to last two years. Because of Covid-19, the project was extended for a year.
The project focus is on literacy and ICT. Proficient literacy and technology skills help students with their education and life in general. The students, teachers and other school staff in each participating school are part of the project. Our literary role model is Roald Dahl, whose books will serve as an inspiration.
The first year of the project will focus on reading Roald Dahl books suitable for each grade level. The books chosen for the project are The Enormous Crocodile, Fantastic Mr. Fox, George’s Marvellous Medicine, and The Witches. There are activities for students that stem from the books: video evaluations of the books, infographics from the books, kahoots, digital escapes, and drama.
The second year of the project will focus on the process of how to write books. The students will write the text, illustrate, create a digital book, and advertise the final products. They will also have readings of the books. At the end of the project, the books will be shared with all participants as digital books.
The project has a logo (Greece designed the winning logo) and a mascot (Finland created the winning mascot). The students exchange letters throughout the project and if possible, “meet” online.
